JMD… Hawaiian Reggae & Blues

For someone who used to be the know-it-all of Asian Americans in music… well, I’m def not on top of it anymore. -_-

So I was sent a Facebook evite from ukulele rock star Jason Arimoto and I decided to take a look (often times I skip over evites). Well, I got confused, cuz’ I thought it’d be an evite for a show of Jason’s, but I didn’t see his name anywhere on the evite and I had no clue what “JMD” was ’til I Googled. Turns out JMD is Jason’s band. According to their Myspace, their genre of music is Reggae / Blues / Hawaiian or “ukulele, drums & bass together live & in your face.” So I took a listen and liked what I heard. Sounds fun! I think I might check out their show tomorrow: **SHOW THIS THURSDAY**JMD, NATURAL NATIVES & GUESTS

Babies and a New Decade

So I had the pleasure of babysitting a lil’ one today… although Arden did most of the work… :X I gotta say… babies… are so, so, so precious. I was always the type to say I would never have kids… but who knows…

Just the other day, I was having lunch with some girlfriends. We were talking about this new decade… and this realization occurred: If I’m gonna have any babies, this will be the decade! (unless I have ‘em when I’m a “cougar”~ haha).

Which makes me think back to a few weeks ago, when my mom asked me: “How old are you again?” I said, “Mom, I’ll be 27 in a few months.” Then she said… “Oh, wow, I was 27 when I had you!”

Omg.

飯氣攻心

pronounced: fan qi gong xin
translation: food coma (slang according to my Taiwanese friend)

Speaking of food and Taiwanese… I can’t wait to be back in Taiwan/Asia! Leaving in just a few weeks! I’ll definitely be getting major 飯氣攻心 while I’m over there! For those who know what’s up and if you haven’t already, you should join my friend’s Facebook Group: 台灣 Food is THE BEST. That’s right, Taiwan food is the BEST! Mmm… even the non-Taiwanese food is good there :] It’s a foodie’s paradise!

Pic from last Taiwan trip… the BEST beef noodles in the world from 廖家牛肉麵 (liao jia niu rou mian). I am looking forward to having THIS again. Which btw, this is not what it looks like at the restaurant… my aunt brought it home and served it in small bowls (just in case you’re thinking the portion is small).

365 Days of Love

Just learned about my pastor, Jaeson Ma’s 2010 New Year’s resolution. It’s pretty cool. His goal is to commit one act of kindness each day of this year. He explains it on his blog and in this video:

I think any simple gesture of Love can go a long way. So far he’s bought fruit for strangers on the street, prayed and prophesied over them, told his mom how much he loves and appreciates her, and fed starving immigrant workers in front of Home Depot. He’ll be blogging daily of his encounters.

I’m definitely excited to see what God’s gonna do through Jaeson this year!

Baby Baby

Was chillin’ at Nandarang in K-town when from the corner of my eye I thought I saw an ol’ friend, Chan, appear in a music vid that was playing on one of the monitors…

When I got home just a few minutes ago, I looked it up, and YUP, it was him!

Chan aka Snacky Chan aka Roy Kim doing his thang in Korea:

Good, stuff, Chan. Hope all is well over there! We miss ya over here though!

Happy New Year!

Today is 1/1/10 and it’s off to a good start!

I’m normally not the type to believe in New Year’s Resolutions, cuz’ well, I believe you can make resolutions at any time and just commit to them… no need for a holiday to do something special! But heck, the timing happens to match what I’ve been going through… so here are my 2010 resolutions:

- Blog everyday that I have Internet access (y’all can keep me accountable!)
- Read 30 chapters of the Bible everyday. I’ll be reading it from beginning to end!
- Date God! I want to get to know Him more and more everyday.

Yup. I can dooo it!

So last night (NYE) was a bit blah for me. I was in a funky mood and ended up staying at home (mainly cuz’ I was sick). Nobody was home… just me and my computer. I ended up staying up ’til 6am doing a whole lot of nothing… and before I fell asleep I just prayed that God would help me focus. Afterwards, I just knew that when I woke up, God would greet me with a brand new day and take away any funky feelings. And He did :] First thing I did today (I got up at 2pm) was pray, read, eat, and then read 30 chapters of the Bible! And now I’ve blogged! Now I’m gonna go pretty myself up and maybe go on a date ;]

2010 is going to be an amazing year. 2009 was a breakthrough year for me. One of these days I will finally write out my testimony… until then, God Bless and Happy New Year, all!

This is the closest I got to a New Year’s kiss… Aiko and I BBM’d each other at midnight to wish each other Happy New Year! Haha. I love this girl.

P.S. – I’m in the process of changing up my site (as you might be able to see). The biggest change I’ve made is that you can now leave me comments!
