For the last several years, I had told myself that I wanted to be in the best shape of my life before turning 30. However, I made very feeble steps to achieve that. In fact, I had been so sedentary for so long that when I first attempted to work out after 8 years of not exercising, I literally almost had a heart attack. Also, having dealt with health issues in the past few years and becoming really unhappy and drained from sitting in front of the computer all the time, I was definitely feeling a need for a drastic lifestyle change.
By God’s perfect timing, an opportunity came about to make this happen and I’ve committed to 90 days of transforming my lifestyle. For the last month, I’ve been living down in the OC, working out three times a week with my personal trainer/lifestyle coach friend, Cary Hokama, and eating lean protein and green veggies while cutting processed foods, sugar, and carbs. That’s the base of what I’ve been doing. On top of that, I’ve been doing my own cardio 1-2 days outside of training, taking time to get some proper rest, enjoying leisurely time, and just getting focused on what’s important. It’s definitely been a very blessed time, but I ain’t gonna lie- it hasn’t been easy!
Day 0 – getting a little test run with Cary before committing to 90 days.
Some of my fitness goals during these 90 days include: achieving that “sexy line” that fit females have going down the middle of their abs. I have NEVER had this in my life. Shoot, I have never had nice abs. Ever. So yes, I will have nice abs by the end of the 90 days. Secondly, I want to be able to do ONE pull up by the end of the 90 days. Just one! I also want to defeat diabetes. The last time I visited my doctor, my blood sugar levels indicated that I was pre-diabetic. This is no joke, cuz’ diabetes definitely runs in my family. Lastly, I want the discipline and mentality it takes to sustain a healthy lifestyle moving forward. I don’t want to go backwards at all when I’m done with this- no way. I want to be transformed in a way that empowers every aspect of my life not just with working out and eating, but with the way I am. Trust me, I have a lot more goals than these fitness ones, but that’s a whole ‘nother blog.
So here I am! Day 30 has just passed. I’d say I’m doing quite well so far. The best thing about this journey is that everyday I AM in the best shape of my life and I’m definitely thankful for that. Before and after pics? Yes, just wait for them… 😛
