With a twist. I’ll be participating in a staged reading of Quentin Tarantino’s original screenplay of Reservoir Dogs with an all Asian American female cast. 2pm at the Japanese American National Museum’s Tateuchi Democracy Forum Theater in Little Tokyo. You are all invited!
Whoa, just realized this year marks my 10 year anniversary with Kollaboration! The first time I ever attended a Kollaboration was the Kollaboration All Stars show on July 23rd, 2005! Time flies. Anyway, tomorrow night, Kollaboration Star is going down and the lineup looks pretty solid!
For all you peeps in LA, Kollaboration Star is going down at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre this Saturday evening, November 15th, 2014.
In case you’re not familiar, Kollaboration is an Asian American talent show that has been going on for 15 years and happens in cities across the nation. Kollaboration Star will showcase this year’s top six talents who will be competing for a grand prize of $10,000. The six finalists are Paul Kay from Chicago, Ang & Glo from Detroit, The Primaries from Los Angeles, Sung Lee from New York, Jett from Seattle, and Paradise from Washington, D.C.
So excited! Gonna go watch my brother (from another mother) perform at the House of Blues this Thursday! He’s opening for Wanting and it’ll be his first performance in LA since he left for Taiwan to become 王大文 the superstar. Should be a chill night! Get more info or tickets here.
To be very honest, I do not like K-pop. Actually, I don’t really like anything pop. BUT I’ll admit that I did go through a K-pop phase when I was in high school. In fact, the song in the above promo was one of my faves :X So… this could actually be fun…

The Asian American Movement, that documentary I posted about awhile ago, is officially premiering tonight at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival! Will you be there? 9:30p at CGV Cinemas.
I know the crew has been working really hard on this project for the last several months to truly capture a movement that has been going on for quite some time. And so I’m very excited to see what they have to show the world and very proud to have had some involvement. This has definitely been a VERY ambitious project, so I’m looking forward to celebrating with everyone involved! Yay-yuh, *cheers* all!
Opens this Thursday evening with SHANGHAI CALLING. Looks like actor Daniel Henney and comedian Steve Byrne will be making it quite the hapa-ning night.
On Friday night, my music video program, CINEMA MÚSICA!, will be screening at CGV Cinemas at 7:30p. If you can make it, I’ll be conducting a Q&A with filmmakers and artists in attendance after the screening. After that, I’m gonna head to the DGA to see THE CRUMBLES! And then if I’m in the partying mood, I’ll stop by Club Los Globos for some live music and schmoozing.
On Saturday, I’m gonna try to check out HANG LOOSE, SUNSET STORIES, and YES, WE’RE OPEN! On Sunday, I’m prob gonna have to take a break, but I wanna shout out Michael Kang’s latest film, KNOTS. I got to see it at SDAFF last year and it’s def a good film to watch with the fam on Mother’s Day ;]
To all my Taiwanese friends and family, if you have time for a romantic comedy this weekend, check out Lovesick/戀愛恐慌症! The film stars Ariel Lin/林依晨 and Bolin Chen/陳柏霖, and is directed by my very good friend Rocky Jo. If you see it, please let me know what you think! And please, no spoilers, I have yet to see it 😛
