Too Blessed to be Stressed

It’s been almost 3 weeks since the New Year began. I’m sure many of you are wondering how my 30 chapters a day resolution is going. Well, I was reading 30 chapters a day up until January 15th. I gotta give it to myself for getting through 1/3 of the Bible in just two weeks… it was pretty hardcore!!! I’d be done in a month if I kept going! Haha, crazy! Anyway, spending approx. 2 hours a day reading started to become draining on top of everything else. By the 15th, I was so sleep-deprived that I decided to take a break (and so instead, I watched FURIOUS LOVE, a very inspiring documentary about Love in the midst of some major spiritual warfare). So yup, I have revised my resolution. I’ll read 5 chapters a day at the very least. They say if you read 5 chapters a day, you can finish the Bible in a year!

So what else has been going on? Well, I’ve been finishing up some work for a documentary that I’ve been working on in the past year. I’ll def be plugging it in the near future. I’ve also been spending as much quality time as possible with friends before my trip to Taiwan. I take off in a week and I am very, very excited! Taiwan has family, friends, good food, lots to do, and I don’t have to drive! I may even go to HK or Beijing for a week. Life is def good right now.

And although there are moments or days when I feel down or lonely, God knows and He always reminds me that He’s right there. Like today, God put it on a friend’s heart to give me a call and grab lunch. It was super random, cuz’ this friend and I never hang out and actually, I had been feeling kinda funky the past two days. So after hanging out for two hours and having revelations about God… it was def a Godsend. Dating God (my other New Year’s resolution) has been sweet. I’m just learning about Love really. Seeing people how God sees them. Loving and expecting nothing in return. And I’m trying not to be in my head so much, rather trying to enjoy God’s presence all the time.

Btw, I’ve been receiving a lot of encouraging emails from strangers. THANK YOU to those who have written me! I’m sorry I haven’t written back yet, but I do want y’all to know that I have read your emails and am very encouraged by them! :]

Finally, here’s a cute VoteCPAF.org PSA with one of our fave dance crews:

You dig it? Kaba Modern rocks for sure. And so does CPAF. Last night, I actually got to meet some CPAF counselors and they were all super awesome people. I def want to see CPAF stay open for all the domestic violence and sexual assault victims out there… so please vote! There’s less than a day left!

My Two Cents & How You Can Help CPAF

Ok, so if you have already voted, THANK YOU. If not, please go to VoteCPAF.org and submit a vote! Your vote will go towards helping API women who suffer from domestic violence and sexual assault.

For those of you who want to do more to help, here’s what you can do:
1. Tell your friends, family, and peers to take 10 seconds to submit a vote!
2. Send any of the CPAF PSAs to people you know. You can find all the videos here: http://www.youtube.com/CPAFpsa
3. Make the following image your profile pic on Facebook!

Thanks, everyone! For more info about CPAF, check out NurturingChange.org.

United Against Violence – VoteCPAF.org

Here’s the latest PSA from a series of PSAs to come. You’ll spot me in this one… but me a YouTube All-Star? I don’t know about that. Regardless, it’s an honor being part of something so important.

What exactly are we doing here? We’re trying to win $1 million from Chase Community Giving so that the Center for the Pacific Asian Family can continue to do what they’ve been doing… and that’s helping women of Asian Pacific Islander descent who suffer from domestic violence and sexual assault. Fact: 40-60% of Americans of API descent experience intimate partner abuse or sexual abuse in their lifetime and that is wayyy too many. We need organizations like CPAF. Downtown Art Walk

Scoped it out tonight with some friends… here are a few photos:

I was watching this guy paint when I realized I had seen him somewhere before… in a short film called PALETTE. It was then confirmed when I spotted the director, James Marcus Haney, who happened to be doing a live photo installation in the same space. Do you see the photos behind the crowd? Those are his.

After aimlessly walking the streets, we ran into Nic Cha Kim (one of the founders of Gallery Row)! We’re so glad we ran into him cuz’ we had no idea where any galleries were. He ended up guiding us to some good stuff.

1) I’m no LV expert, but I thought this was funny. 2) This one’s funny, too. It’s called “Toilet Seat Bass Guitar.”

Nic promised us this would be our fave gallery… and it was! It’s called “The Hive” and it really is like a hive inside!

1) Featured Artist display. 2) I’ve seen this art somewhere before! Kono? Where have I seen you? I really took this pic cuz’ of the turtle though… haha.

These were two of my fave pieces.

Do you remember He-Man and She-Ra?

Haha. Well, how many of you know that “He-Man” and “She-Ra” existed in the Bible? Heheheh, well… Heman and Sheerah.

So I’ve been reading the Old Testament and while reading some genealogies, “Sheerah” popped out at me, then later “Heman,” and I was like, “Oh! I used to have a She-Ra doll!” In fact, I had the freakin’ She-Ra Crystal Castle! LOL.

Oh yes… my random silly musings while reading the Bible.

Andrew Oh Photo

Last April I did a fun a photo shoot with the very talented Andrew Oh.

I know Andrew as a filmmaker (from Illegal to GOCHU), but besides filmmaking and being one of the most awesome and down-to-earth people in the film industry, Andrew is also a great photographer! I personally had a blast shooting with him!

Need some shots? Check out his brand spankin’ new photography site: www.andrewohphoto.com

Does this look familiar?

Looks like a behind-the-scenes photo of Kim Jong Il Eharmony… but is it?

Spiritual Muscles… No Pain, No Gain

So I just made an awesome discovery while reading my 30 chapters of the Bible today (for those who don’t know: one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to read 30 chapters a day from Genesis to Revelations).

Since I wasn’t able to read earlier in the day and I ended up getting home pretty late, I was pretty tired… but I refused to sleep before reading my 30 chapters. While reading the last few chapters of Deuteronomy, I started dozing… I became restless with sitting… so I tried reading on the floor… then I started getting into positions that were too comfortable…

Eventually, I stood up, paced around, and started reading. Then, I started doing mild stretching and strengthening exercises while reading… then it became a full on hour or so of this… and WOW, it was quite an amazing experience. Not only did I focus well, but I was really getting a bit of a workout! I’m actually quite sore right now and very wide awake… I could go for a hike or something! Haha.

Silly pic from last year… trying to flex next to the very muscular D.Y. Sao.

Oh man, I love that I can build my spiritual muscles while toning my physical ones! I think maybe I should start breaking my 30 chapters into halves… do 15 and warmup… then go hike… then come back and do the rest and stretch!

Ok… this girl should get some sleep even though she’s super HIGH right now. Just got really excited about a possible new exercise routine. Haha. God is good, yo.

Babies and a New Decade

So I had the pleasure of babysitting a lil’ one today… although Arden did most of the work… :X I gotta say… babies… are so, so, so precious. I was always the type to say I would never have kids… but who knows…

Just the other day, I was having lunch with some girlfriends. We were talking about this new decade… and this realization occurred: If I’m gonna have any babies, this will be the decade! (unless I have ‘em when I’m a “cougar”~ haha).

Which makes me think back to a few weeks ago, when my mom asked me: “How old are you again?” I said, “Mom, I’ll be 27 in a few months.” Then she said… “Oh, wow, I was 27 when I had you!”

Omg.

Happy New Year!

Today is 1/1/10 and it’s off to a good start!

I’m normally not the type to believe in New Year’s Resolutions, cuz’ well, I believe you can make resolutions at any time and just commit to them… no need for a holiday to do something special! But heck, the timing happens to match what I’ve been going through… so here are my 2010 resolutions:

- Blog everyday that I have Internet access (y’all can keep me accountable!)
- Read 30 chapters of the Bible everyday. I’ll be reading it from beginning to end!
- Date God! I want to get to know Him more and more everyday.

Yup. I can dooo it!

So last night (NYE) was a bit blah for me. I was in a funky mood and ended up staying at home (mainly cuz’ I was sick). Nobody was home… just me and my computer. I ended up staying up ’til 6am doing a whole lot of nothing… and before I fell asleep I just prayed that God would help me focus. Afterwards, I just knew that when I woke up, God would greet me with a brand new day and take away any funky feelings. And He did :] First thing I did today (I got up at 2pm) was pray, read, eat, and then read 30 chapters of the Bible! And now I’ve blogged! Now I’m gonna go pretty myself up and maybe go on a date ;]

2010 is going to be an amazing year. 2009 was a breakthrough year for me. One of these days I will finally write out my testimony… until then, God Bless and Happy New Year, all!

This is the closest I got to a New Year’s kiss… Aiko and I BBM’d each other at midnight to wish each other Happy New Year! Haha. I love this girl.

P.S. – I’m in the process of changing up my site (as you might be able to see). The biggest change I’ve made is that you can now leave me comments!
