It’s about time…

that PEACHiES.net has a makeover…

Any suggestions? Email them to me: grace@peachies.net

I can’t sleep, so I’m gonna blog.

(blog inspired by MyNinjaClothing.com)

It’s 5am right now and it’s waaay past my bedtime.

I should’ve gone to sleep awhile ago… I gotta be up in just a few hours for a full day of editing, shooting, and meetings! Oi vey. What am I doing? >_<

Hmm. It's been awhile since I've blogged about anything personal. Peachies.net continues to be an occasional billboard for Asian Americans in entertainment as you can see.

I guess to bring y'all up to date... I've been working on a lot of random stuff. Editing, acting, producing... etc. It's been wild. It's been busy. It's caused me to have insomnia tonight.

I've been craving a lifestyle change for the past several months and I guess I've been moving towards one. Gotta take baby steps. Just trying to live a fuller life by being more active, eating better, and enjoying what's free. I REALLY want to start cooking. But first I need to learn! Baby steps... baby steps.

Just wrapped a short film directed by my friend, Jin Yoo-Kim. She's hardcore and going through film school at USC right now. She wrote a small part for me... character's name is "Grace!" Haha. Cast from film pictured below.

Oooh! For those of you who voted for “The Art of Fame” in the LG Fame Us! Contest… we won the Grand Prize! Sooo awesome. Eugene Lee Yang… super talented. Definitely a director to watch. I’ve worked on two projects with him now and he is just one of those people with a natural ability of doing everything well.

Arowana Films. I’m pretty much part of the crew now. I joked to Evan that they’d need to change their logo to include a girl. Haha. We’ll see about that… ;P Most recently, we’re wrapping up 1040 and we’re also working on a few other projects together… stay tuned…

So yup, it’s been pretty busy these last few months. This month is pretty intense. So intense I wasn’t able to travel to SDAFF or HIFF as I had hoped to. BUT! I’ll be traveling to Hong Kong and Taiwan at the end of this month through mid-November! I’m pretty excited about that. I’ve never been to HK… so I’m really looking forward to that. Going with one of my best friends and meeting up with another one in Taipei, so should be fun!

Normally, I would stop myself and criticize this blog very harshly for the way it’s been written… but today, I will just let it go and let this be.

OH! I know this has already been a pretty random blog, but I just wanted to give some major props to MY NINJA! and The Social Trust for their recent collaboration! The new shirts and photos look AMAZING, guys!!!

Speaking of photos, here’s one from the other day.

Hugos

At Hugo’s. Photo courtesy of Jeannie Mai. I am sooo glad I got to see and spend time with Kathy Uyen (3 days in a row!). So good to see her back in LA for a bit. She just freakin’ won a Vietnamese Oscar, yo! For her role in PASSPORT TO LOVE… which I need to see, which maybe you can see, too, as it’s out in select theaters. I just had to plug something now, didn’t I?

Omg… this blog took me almost 30 minutes to write. o_O It’s time to stop and go to sleep.

Reflection: July 25, 2009.

Two weekends ago, I was in NorCal for my dear friend, Rosalie’s wedding. The night before the wedding, I thought of Michelle Maykin and how awesome it would be to be able to visit her while in NorCal. But at this point, Michelle had been diagnosed with not very long to live. All I could really do was continue to pray for her…

The next day at the wedding, I received an email from a close friend of Michelle’s. Michelle had passed away early that morning and one of her last requests was for us to “take care of one another.” I began to tear up and I cried thinking of Michelle throughout the wedding. I thought, God… today is both a joyous and sad day… here I am witnessing the marriage between these two wonderful people… and on the same day an amazing young woman has passed away and God has chosen not to grant us that healing miracle… it was a very bittersweet day for me personally… July 25, 2009.

Michelle, I unfortunately never got to meet you in the flesh. You were truly an inspiration to so many people. You were such a wonderful person to make the cause bigger than you. And I know the cause will go on because of the # of people you affected. I pray for God’s warm embrace of peace and calm over your family and friends. And I know we may have differences in faith, but I pray you are in a better place. God had His purpose with your life and I believe He will still be using it to teach us things. Thanks for leaving us with a glimpse of your last days enjoying life. You were truly amazing. Always thinking of others, even in your last breaths… “take care of one another.” Amazing. You are missed…

R.I.P. Michelle Maykin.

If you are not registered to be a bone marrow donor (especially if you’re Asian), please consider doing so: projectmichelle.com

Ok, is this kind of creepy?

Yesterday, my lunch purchase rang up to $6.66. Guy says, “ooh, lucky #.” I’m like, “uh… haha.” Later on, in the same day, I buy some guac and chips… it rings up to $6.66! I kinda freak out. The lady behind the counter is wearing a necklace with Jesus on it. She says that it’s just a # and that nothing bad will happen. Of course I know nothing bad will happen although I start wondering if it’s a sign. THEN today, JUST NOW, I glanced at the # of tweets I have… 666. What the heck? 666 be gone!!!

(I originally tweeted this, but then of course Twitter cut me off… then while tweeting, something weird happened with my computer and then my Internet started freezing up, so I had to start over. Uh… not to spook you guys, but thought I’d share.)

On an interesting and maybe related side note, this happened to happen on the day that we were having a rough cut screening of a film that has to do with End Times… whoa. And today I happened to read a prophetic message from my pastor about a girl named “GRACE” who is scared to go to the next level or unsure of herself and her call from God (something I can relate to)… before seeing 666 again. I don’t know what it all means yet… but it’s definitely GOD OR ODD…

From the archives: Nemo’s "Hidden Agenda"

So I was showing Danny aka the Prime Minister some archived videos of mine… when I stumbled upon this:

Whoa!!! Hadn’t seen this in so long! Looking at it now… it’s actually a pretty cool vid still! So cool I had to upload it to YouTube… and jam a bit to the music in my Nemo pajama top. Ha.

Ah… memories. This was one of the first video projects I collaborated with people on outside of school. Directed by Lorenzo de Guia in 2004. You should check out his stuff now… he’s a crazy talented dude.

Michelle doesn’t need a donor.

She needs PRAYER. http://projectmichelle.com/blog/

Last year, my friends contacted me about their friend Michelle Maykin who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (a cancer of the blood). After seeking a bone marrow donor amongst her family, she needed to find a match from a stranger. Tricky thing is that there was and is a lack of Asian bone marrow donors out there. So her friends and family started ProjectMichelle.com in hopes of finding a bone marrow donor for Michelle. A donor was not found, so she went with another option: double cord transplant. Things seemed to be going ok post-transplant, but the cancer came back. After that, she decided to keep fighting and started undergoing chemo again this month. However, according to her doctor, the cancer is now chemo-resistant and she only has 4-6 weeks to live… That must be the hardest news to hear at the age of 27 (I’m only a year younger than her…-_-). Michelle being the fighter that she’s been has decided to try out Eastern medicine…

I was very sad to read the latest update on Michelle and am more than ever determined to meet her, and no not in the next 4-6 weeks, but when she is healthy and cancer-free!

Michelle needs prayer and I am praying that Jesus will heal her. Jesus can heal all! Yes, He can. Please pray with me.

Lily’s Hope

A few months ago, I played a small role in a short film called Lily’s Hope. About a Chinese girl who is forced into prostitution, the film’s intention is to raise awareness about sex slavery. I’ve posted the video here, but check out the website, too, it has a lot of great links to resources about modern day slavery: www.lilyshope.com.

Bring Laura and Euna Home

A good idea of how last night’s vigil in LA went down:

Praying for peace and calm for the families of Laura and Euna during this time. And praying for the safe return of Laura and Euna in the very near future!

It’s been "forever and a day"

Does anyone remember that phrase? I remember people used to use it all the time back in high school. Speaking of which… I was listening to some old K-Pop/Rock mp3s from back then… and it was a bit of a trip. Been a looong time since I’ve been into Korean music or any Asian (overseas) music… actually… any music. My favorite music was and still is ’90s rock. I don’t even know what’s out there in the music world right now and it’s been awhile since I’ve kept up with the Asian American music scene >_< (sorry, guys). I have, however, recently started tuning into Power 106 from time to time cuz' of FM! Def love how they’re always mixing “Girls on the Dance Floor” with “Poker Face.”

Anyway, I started this blog with the intention of saying: it’s been “forever and a day” since I’ve blogged! Well, not really, but it’s been awhile.
