Far East Futura

This is so sick. When I first saw it on the Interpretations site, I was like, “OH SNAP.” It’s a slick vid featuring Far East Movement, produced by Anson Ho and Christina Hoang, with cinematography by Ray Huang, cuts by Greg Louie, graphics by Jonathan Winbush, and directed by Evan Jackson Leong who I spotlighted recently.

And just fyi, this is NOT an entry in the Interpretations contest. Just an example of what you can do with a simple script. So if you’re inspired… get your camera, some peeps, and make your interpration! For more info, check out: interpretationsfilm.com

Interpretations

Brought to you by You Offend Me You Offend My Family and director Justin Lin. Make a 3-minute short film with the following script:

It’s not something I’d do.
Well?
It’s not what I expected.
You sure?

It’s totally up for your interpretation. Sounds like a lot of fun. Five finalists will be announced at the San Diego Asian Film Festival in October and will receive $3,000 each as well as a one-year subscription to the WGA’s WRITTEN BY magazine. For more info, check out: interpretationsfilm.com.

Video Colorist needed!

For feature length indie documentary (72 min.) shot on HD. Think: Michael Moore meets Planet B-Boy but about Christianity in Asia. The film exists as a FCP 6 project. Must have own equipment/software (i.e. Color). Start date begins next week or the following week once we picture lock. We are aiming to have this completed by the end of the month. Please send examples of work as well as your rate to grace@peachies.net. We have a small budget to work with, but are fair. We are also open to working with students!

Please pass this along to anyone you know who may be interested and available! Thanks!

Music needed for indie documentary

Hello Musicians & Composers,

I’m looking for music! For an indie documentary about Christianity in Asia. I’d say stylistically it’s kinda like Michael Moore meets Planet B-Boy.

We’re looking for all types of music, so no, the music does not need to be of the Christian genre. Open to hip hop, rock, electronic, instrumentals, etc. We are looking for both produced tracks as well as samples of composed music.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a budget for this, so this is definitely for people who’d like to collaborate with some good peeps, contribute their music to a passion project that has the intention of reaching the masses, and of course a film credit for your resume.

Please submit any links to music or inquiries about the project to: grace@peachies.net

We are on a pretty tight post-production schedule, so please do get in touch with me ASAP if you’re interested. Thanks!

LEAP’s Student Conference and Summer Internship

For all you college/grad students out there, here are two great opportunities from Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP):

1) STEP UP!, the 2nd Annual Nissan Student Leadership Summit

Coming up on Saturday, March 7th! Featuring seven personal and organizational development workshops designed and facilitated by community leaders, this one-day conference will empower students to STEP UP! as leaders on campus, strengthen their organizations, and develop strong visions for the future. Come meet fellow student leaders from across California, learn new skills together, and organize for the years ahead!

2) Leadership in Action (LIA) Summer internship program

Interested in organizing for the community? Curious how life is like at a nonprofit job? Want to find all these things out while also developing your leadership skills and getting paid?

LIA is a paid eight-week summer internship that places interns at local, Asian and Pacific Islander (API), community-based organizations. Four days of the week, interns are placed in a range of API community-based organizations in order to gain real-life experience working at nonprofits. Every fifth day, interns come back to LEAP for leadership development workshops, panels, and dialogues with community leaders.

Program Date: June 22, 2009 – August 14, 2009
