Last April I did a fun a photo shoot with the very talented Andrew Oh.
I know Andrew as a filmmaker (from Illegal to GOCHU), but besides filmmaking and being one of the most awesome and down-to-earth people in the film industry, Andrew is also a great photographer! I personally had a blast shooting with him!

So I just made an awesome discovery while reading my 30 chapters of the Bible today (for those who don’t know: one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to read 30 chapters a day from Genesis to Revelations).
Since I wasn’t able to read earlier in the day and I ended up getting home pretty late, I was pretty tired… but I refused to sleep before reading my 30 chapters. While reading the last few chapters of Deuteronomy, I started dozing… I became restless with sitting… so I tried reading on the floor… then I started getting into positions that were too comfortable…
Eventually, I stood up, paced around, and started reading. Then, I started doing mild stretching and strengthening exercises while reading… then it became a full on hour or so of this… and WOW, it was quite an amazing experience. Not only did I focus well, but I was really getting a bit of a workout! I’m actually quite sore right now and very wide awake… I could go for a hike or something! Haha. Silly pic from last year… trying to flex next to the very muscular D.Y. Sao.
Oh man, I love that I can build my spiritual muscles while toning my physical ones! I think maybe I should start breaking my 30 chapters into halves… do 15 and warmup… then go hike… then come back and do the rest and stretch!
Ok… this girl should get some sleep even though she’s super HIGH right now. Just got really excited about a possible new exercise routine. Haha. God is good, yo.
I’m normally not the type to believe in New Year’s Resolutions, cuz’ well, I believe you can make resolutions at any time and just commit to them… no need for a holiday to do something special! But heck, the timing happens to match what I’ve been going through… so here are my 2010 resolutions:
- Blog everyday that I have Internet access (y’all can keep me accountable!)
- Read 30 chapters of the Bible everyday. I’ll be reading it from beginning to end!
- Date God! I want to get to know Him more and more everyday.
Yup. I can dooo it!
So last night (NYE) was a bit blah for me. I was in a funky mood and ended up staying at home (mainly cuz’ I was sick). Nobody was home… just me and my computer. I ended up staying up ’til 6am doing a whole lot of nothing… and before I fell asleep I just prayed that God would help me focus. Afterwards, I just knew that when I woke up, God would greet me with a brand new day and take away any funky feelings. And He did :] First thing I did today (I got up at 2pm) was pray, read, eat, and then read 30 chapters of the Bible! And now I’ve blogged! Now I’m gonna go pretty myself up and maybe go on a date ;]
2010 is going to be an amazing year. 2009 was a breakthrough year for me. One of these days I will finally write out my testimony… until then, God Bless and Happy New Year, all! This is the closest I got to a New Year’s kiss… Aiko and I BBM’d each other at midnight to wish each other Happy New Year! Haha. I love this girl.
P.S. – I’m in the process of changing up my site (as you might be able to see). The biggest change I’ve made is that you can now leave me comments!
So I was showing Danny aka the Prime Minister some archived videos of mine… when I stumbled upon this:
Whoa!!! Hadn’t seen this in so long! Looking at it now… it’s actually a pretty cool vid still! So cool I had to upload it to YouTube… and jam a bit to the music in my Nemo pajama top. Ha.
Ah… memories. This was one of the first video projects I collaborated with people on outside of school. Directed by Lorenzo de Guia in 2004. You should check out his stuff now… he’s a crazy talented dude.
Sounds like a movie title, no? Haha, j/k. It’s just my way of trying to have a random title that’s fitting to this blog ;P
So it’s been busy the past several weeks. Daniel and I moved again. Oi vey. This was my 6.5th time moving since officially moving down to LA 3.5 years ago (6.5 cuz’ I first crashed on my relatives’ couch). We’re in downtown LA now. I never thought I’d live downtown, but after 3 weeks of being here, I’m actually diggin’ it. Our new place is dope… which is potentially a problem. We’ve had visitors almost every single day since we’ve moved here! People come over ’til really late, too… so I’ve been sleeping really late… playing Rock Band ’til past 3am… sometimes ’til 5am… you see why this could be a problem? Haha. >_< The other night, Lanny and Pedro came over and they ended up staying 24 hours! I did a double take at one point, cuz' all of a sudden Lanny was wearing Daniel's clothes. o_O
So what's up with "Stephanie, Gilbert, and a Ferris Wheel" you ask? My clever way of summing up a few events from the past 3 weeks...
Stephanie. My character’s name in Andrew Oh’s short film, “Miracle Mile.” Andrew did a great job directing and the piece turned out really solid. The premiere took place at the Talent 1 Media Film Festival two weekends ago. Daniel and I attended the screening and enjoyed a lot of the films, especially “The Agent” ones. Def looking forward to next year’s TOMFF.
Gilbert. Nickname given to me by Hans of Tatum Jones (maybe I will explain why in another blog). He actually dedicated their song “Wingman” to me at Calista Wu‘s CD release last week. Haha. Oh man, Calista was awesome and Bordello was PACKED. I could barely maneuver around peeps as I was trying to help with some filming. It was fun though. Aiko and I danced during TJ’s set then blew bubbles at Calista as she was performing. I also lost my voice screaming “ENCORE!” at Calista, haha. THEN… a few peeps came over afterwards (of course).
Ferris Wheel. Rode one for the first time this past Saturday! Haha. Went out with Daniel’s fam for a pre-Father’s Day dinner in Santa Monica. It was nice. I had some pretty good salmon… but wayyy overpriced IMO (Ocean Avenue Seafood). Walked over to the pier afterwards and after mentioning that I’d never gone up on a Ferris wheel, Daniel went and bought us some tix It was nice, the view was really cool. And no we did not make out up there if you were wondering.
Good times. Until next time’s random blog with a random title…
Was a blast! Not only to the past (’80s, rollercoasters, and slumber party), but it was jam-packed with activities!
It all started with a not-so-surprise ’80s prom birthday party for Ray, Vy, and me. Haha, a few people kinda ruined the surprise for me, but it was still fun! Plus, there were a few things about the party that really surprised me, like the whole prom picture setup, certain people who came through, and the amazing vegan cakes! Many thanks to Angela, Becky, Jeannie, Freddy, Ray, Danny, and of course, Daniel!
The next day, Jeannie took me shopping in the Fashion District and at the Forever 21 in Pasadena. Jeannie shops for celebs and knows how to look good with low budgets, so I was def one lucky gal. Here’s a sample of Jeannie’s picks for me:
I didn’t buy that first dress, cuz’ it was too big (notice that I’m bunching it up in the back). That 2nd dress… I have NO IDEA when the heck I’ll ever wear it, but it was super cheap! Here’s a lil’ clip I put together from the day with the rest of Jeannie’s picks:
Jeannie has one of the biggest hearts I know. Not only did she take me out shopping, but she treated me to dinner as well as the BEST ice cream I’ve ever had (and it’s VEGAN!). Scoops. Their Pistachio and Rose Water ice cream is to die for. Mmm…
Friday was my birthday. Since Disneyland has been doing a promo where you can go for free on your birthday, I went to California Adventures for the first time ever with Daniel and it was sooo much fun! We kinda got there late, so we only got to experience a few rides, but every single one that we went on was pretty fun (California Screamin’, Hollywood Tower, Toy Story Mania, Soaring Over California…).
Afterwards, Daniel dropped me off at Vy’s apartment for… a slumber party! I got there really late though (like 3 hours late)… and the girls tried to pretend like they had all left by hiding in the bathroom and under the covers, but I totally heard them on the way to the door~ lol. I guess I’m not an easy one to surprise
Anyway, Vy, Angela, and I ended up staying up til’ 5AM while the other girls knocked out. We were mostly talking, snacking, and drawing on Vy’s wall.. I’m actually really proud of this drawing I did of Vy’s dog, Tian Shi. I didn’t think I had it in me anymore (I grew up drawing a lot)… but I think I still got some skills:
Haha, anyway, you should see all the other things I drew… a unicorn, Hello Kitty, a failed attempt at drawing Vy… hahaha… a failed attempt at a dragonfly (how hard could that be?)…
Ah… good times. Mucho thanks to Linette and Chris for planning the sleepover! And to Vy for hosting! Hadn’t been to a sleepover since junior high! I also wanted to do an ’80s prom party for awhile now, too! So this was a really special birthday for me. I’ll definitely update again when Shinobi posts those prom pics up! To all that this applies to, thank you for the bday wishes!!!
Last night, Arden invited me to a lil’ preview party for BoA‘s single, “I Did It For Love.” BoA performed the song and they showed a clip from her new music vid directed by Joseph Kahn!
It was pretty cool. The event was hosted by SM Entertainment, MTV Iggy, and Zune. Got to meet Joseph Kahn afterwards and some of BoA’s peeps. No, I did not get to meet BoA, although we did pass by each other (and omg, she is TINY and super cute!).
Anyway, no idea how successful BoA will be in America, but from what I’ve seen… she’ll be alright.
After a failed attempt at trying KOGI tacos last week, I went to the Miracle Mile location once again tonight with a group of friends and lo and behold, my Kogi taco cherry was popped! Well, not totally… since they did run out of their signature Korean Short Ribs taco by the time we got to the front of the line… BUT! I must say, their Spicy BBQ Chicken taco was quite delicious! I really liked all the toppings it came with and I didn’t think it was necessary to add any extra sauces or toppings.
So a few weeks ago, I started hearing about this “Korean taco truck” from various friends… and I had NO IDEA what people were talking about. It just sounded like a really interesting concept: Korean BBQ + tacos… why the heck not? Even more interesting was the fact that this truck’s location was always changing and you had to be in the know to know where it’d be. Lucky for me, I’m an Internet detective (it’s really not that hard to find) and I found their website and decided to check it out in my neck of the woods. Unfortunately for me, the first time I tried to get my hands on some, there were news crews and the friends I was with didn’t really want to wait in line. But alas, I have had a taste!
For those who are not in the know, I present to you: KOGIBBQ.COM!
Yes, you may have to wait 1.5 hours or more… but seriously, just go with some friends and you’ll have fun! I waited 1.5 hours for ONE taco (cuz’ I had already eaten dinner), but it was worth it! Tomorrow night, I’m going to try getting my hands on the Short Ribs and Tofu!
