So I had the pleasure of babysitting a lil’ one today… although Arden did most of the work… :X I gotta say… babies… are so, so, so precious. I was always the type to say I would never have kids… but who knows…
Just the other day, I was having lunch with some girlfriends. We were talking about this new decade… and this realization occurred: If I’m gonna have any babies, this will be the decade! (unless I have ‘em when I’m a “cougar”~ haha).
Which makes me think back to a few weeks ago, when my mom asked me: “How old are you again?” I said, “Mom, I’ll be 27 in a few months.” Then she said… “Oh, wow, I was 27 when I had you!”
pronounced: fan qi gong xin translation: food coma (slang according to my Taiwanese friend)
Speaking of food and Taiwanese… I can’t wait to be back in Taiwan/Asia! Leaving in just a few weeks! I’ll definitely be getting major 飯氣攻心 while I’m over there! For those who know what’s up and if you haven’t already, you should join my friend’s Facebook Group: 台灣 Food is THE BEST. That’s right, Taiwan food is the BEST! Mmm… even the non-Taiwanese food is good there :] It’s a foodie’s paradise!
Pic from last Taiwan trip… the BEST beef noodles in the world from 廖家牛肉麵 (liao jia niu rou mian). I am looking forward to having THIS again. Which btw, this is not what it looks like at the restaurant… my aunt brought it home and served it in small bowls (just in case you’re thinking the portion is small).
Was chillin’ at Nandarang in K-town when from the corner of my eye I thought I saw an ol’ friend, Chan, appear in a music vid that was playing on one of the monitors…
When I got home just a few minutes ago, I looked it up, and YUP, it was him!
Chan aka Snacky Chan aka Roy Kim doing his thang in Korea:
Good, stuff, Chan. Hope all is well over there! We miss ya over here though!
Patricio Ginelsa recently won the Grand Prize for the DirecTV Film Challenge with his short, “Digital Family.” It’s a great lil’ piece that’s very relevant to today’s world. It also reminded me of a mini doc I’d seen about my friend and his daugther: “Chayse & Jerry.”
Then just last night, “Gochu” won KoreAm’s Drama Fo’ Yo Mama Contest. This piece definitely stood out from the others… if you haven’t seen it yet, you gotta check it out. It’s pretty ridiculous:
Now, a lot of you have prob heard of Doritos’ Crash the Superbowl Contest… well, there are thousands of entries and what seems to be a lot of money at stake. Check out this entry from Arowana Films featuring Jonathan Winbush’s skills. It’s called “Doritos Dynasty”… if you dig it, please give them a view or comment here: http://www.crashthesuperbowl.com/#/video/3956.
It’s 5am right now and it’s waaay past my bedtime.
I should’ve gone to sleep awhile ago… I gotta be up in just a few hours for a full day of editing, shooting, and meetings! Oi vey. What am I doing? >_<
Hmm. It's been awhile since I've blogged about anything personal. Peachies.net continues to be an occasional billboard for Asian Americans in entertainment as you can see.
I guess to bring y'all up to date... I've been working on a lot of random stuff. Editing, acting, producing... etc. It's been wild. It's been busy. It's caused me to have insomnia tonight.
I've been craving a lifestyle change for the past several months and I guess I've been moving towards one. Gotta take baby steps. Just trying to live a fuller life by being more active, eating better, and enjoying what's free. I REALLY want to start cooking. But first I need to learn! Baby steps... baby steps.
Just wrapped a short film directed by my friend, Jin Yoo-Kim. She's hardcore and going through film school at USC right now. She wrote a small part for me... character's name is "Grace!" Haha. Cast from film pictured below.
Oooh! For those of you who voted for “The Art of Fame” in the LG Fame Us! Contest… we won the Grand Prize! Sooo awesome. Eugene Lee Yang… super talented. Definitely a director to watch. I’ve worked on two projects with him now and he is just one of those people with a natural ability of doing everything well.
Arowana Films. I’m pretty much part of the crew now. I joked to Evan that they’d need to change their logo to include a girl. Haha. We’ll see about that… ;P Most recently, we’re wrapping up 1040 and we’re also working on a few other projects together… stay tuned…
So yup, it’s been pretty busy these last few months. This month is pretty intense. So intense I wasn’t able to travel to SDAFF or HIFF as I had hoped to. BUT! I’ll be traveling to Hong Kong and Taiwan at the end of this month through mid-November! I’m pretty excited about that. I’ve never been to HK… so I’m really looking forward to that. Going with one of my best friends and meeting up with another one in Taipei, so should be fun!
Normally, I would stop myself and criticize this blog very harshly for the way it’s been written… but today, I will just let it go and let this be.
OH! I know this has already been a pretty random blog, but I just wanted to give some major props to MY NINJA! and The Social Trust for their recent collaboration! The new shirts and photos look AMAZING, guys!!!
Speaking of photos, here’s one from the other day.
At Hugo’s. Photo courtesy of Jeannie Mai. I am sooo glad I got to see and spend time with Kathy Uyen (3 days in a row!). So good to see her back in LA for a bit. She just freakin’ won a Vietnamese Oscar, yo! For her role in PASSPORT TO LOVE… which I need to see, which maybe you can see, too, as it’s out in select theaters. I just had to plug something now, didn’t I?
Omg… this blog took me almost 30 minutes to write. o_O It’s time to stop and go to sleep.
I’m not one to follow things like the Emmys… but after seeing a friend tweet about dressing Blake Lively and January Jones, I had to see my friend’s handiwork. Thus, I browsed through red carpet images from the night and found, to my delight, a handful of Asian Am stars struttin’ it!
Pictured: Jeannie Mai (I heart her), Mindy Kaling, Rex Lee w/ the entourage, Lindsay Price, and Sandra Oh.
While perusing, I also stumbled upon this:
What the…either LOST is real or the caption writer totally had a brain fart. Tsk tsk.
Oh, and btw, Blake Lively and January Jones looked lovely! (Great job, Chris!)
So I had first read about Steven Ho on Conan O’Brien from AAM (but for some reason skipped over the video). After seeing bakasan tweet about Steven’s recurring appearances on the show, I had to check it out. Thank God for Hulu!
The above clip is from Steven’s latest appearance this past week. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time from watching a video online. Conan and Steven have great chemistry together… and I love Conan’s reactions and Steven’s disregard to them! Hahaha. Word on the street (or should I say tweet) is that this is not the last time we’ll be seeing this duo. I freakin’ love it.
Just found this the other day while getting things together for my acting reel…
Doesn’t it seem like one of those Taiwanese dramas (but with bad Mandarin)? Haha. ‘Twas shot in college during my last quarter at UCSC actually. Oh man… maybe if I had submitted this to some casting directors in Taiwan… I would’ve been able to get a career over there. Lol.
